We flew United Polaris from FCO to EWR then on to SFO. Dinner on board the FCO to EWR leg was a steak. It wasn't as tasty as the short rib that is usually offered. I hate that United uses Covid as an excuse and still serves the entire meal all at once instead of course by course. Especially bothersome is the meal includes ice cream, which is generally melted by the time you get to it.
The light meal before arrival was a hamburger in a pastry shell. It was okay.
I chose the quinoa with grilled vegetables, which was a better option.
Landing in EWR, we had access to the Polaris lounge. I made a beeline for the Dining Room as soon as we arrived.
Heirloom Tomato Salad--organic arugula, local burrata cheese, heirloom tomatoes with fig vinaigrette. Delicious and much better than what was offered on the flight.
Tandoori Spiced Cauliflower with Cilantro Cucumber Raita. Another delicious dish!
Miso-glazed Atlantic Cod with wilted Bok Choy and Shitake Mushrooms. The cod was so good.
My husband ordered the Lamb Kofta but got the cod as well.
Crown Orchards Pear Cobbler with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Another delicious dish!
You really can't beat the Polaris Lounge when it comes to airport lounges.
Our flight from EWR to SFO included a Chicken Pad Thai. Not even good.
The meals served on board are passable but at least you get a lie-flat seat and access to the Polaris Lounge.
