SFO Lounges & Economy Plus on United

We were scheduled to fly Singapore Airlines non-stop SFO to SIN. Six hours before our scheduled departure, I got a text that the flight was delayed by 6 hours. With such a long initial delay, I was worried, there would be more delays and looked for alternatives. Fortunately, I was able to get a last minute economy seat on a non-stop United flight from SFO to SIN. I was surprised the ticket was only $670 purchased on the day of travel.

At SFO, we accessed Priority Pass Lounges. We started at the British Airways Lounge. It wasn't crowded but there wasn't much food. There were no hot options.

We then cruised over to the Air France/KLM lounge.

The lounge had a better selection of food, including hot entrees but it was crowded.

Having flown Business Class during Covid when the seats were inexpensive, we were anxious about flying economy for such a long flight. We were able to get upgraded to Economy Plus seats with a little more legroom and were fortunate that the seat between us was empty.

We brought a sling that hooked over the tray table--it served as a nice leg rest. We also brought memory foam pillows. We were glad we brought both since they made the nearly 16-hour flight pleasant. We were able to get a good amount of sleep and didn't miss Business Class. You can go back!

The food was terrible. It shouldn't have come as a surprise since United's Business Class food is one of the worst in the industry. I shouldn't have expected Economy Class to have better food. I should have brought my own food.

Lunch options included a vegetable noodle stir-fry. Not worth the calories.

Turkey & cheese sandwich snack. The roll was stale. I ate the turkey and left the roll and cheese. The best part was the bag of M&Ms.

Before landing, we were served a breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. Breakfast was an odd meal to serve since we landed at 7pm in Singapore.

Overall, I can't complain too much. We did arrive on time and close to when we were originally scheduled to arrive. in Singapore.
