The Trinacria is the ancient symbol of Sicily. It shows a face in the center with 3 legs around it. Often it has wings for ears and snakes above the head and below the chin. Shafts of wheat sprout from the center.
The symbol is said to represent Medusa, who turned those who looked at her into stone. Medusa had snakes for hair.
