Top Things to See in Cefalu

Cefalu is a coastal town with a nice beach and a medieval Arab-Norman historic center.

On the day of our visit, there was beautiful street art on the waterfront.

La Rocca is one of Cefalu's top sights. You can climb to the top of it in about 30-45 minutes from the center of town. Admission is €5.

You get a commanding view of the coast.

Various ruins dot La Rocca.

This one is the Tempio di Diana.

Overlook with view of Cefalu's cathedral.

Warehouses, ovens and Church of St. Ann.

Back down in Cefalu, we came upon an impromptu band. It was composed of teens all the way to senior citizens.

Duomo di Cefalu. It was not open so we didn't get to see the Cristo Pantocratore, Sicily's oldest and best preserved. It predates that at Monreale by a few decades..

One of the filming sites of "Cinema Paradiso."

Cefalu's crescent shaped beach.

Porta Pescara is the sole survivor of one of 4 gates that was in the city wall.

Lovatoio Medioevale--medieval washbasin that dates from the 16th century. it's free to visit.

The Museo Mandralisca is a private museum housing the collections of Baron Mandralisca.

It was closed so we didn't get to see Antonello da Messina's Ritratto di un uomo ignoto (Portrait of an Unknown Man). It's said this is the 2nd most famous smile (after that of Mona Lisa).
