There are several ways to get from PMO to central Palermo. One is by train. Cost is €5.90 one way. It stops at Stazione Centrale. After exiting the Arrivals area, go downstairs to find the train station. Buy tickets from the machine.
There are 2 trains/hour. From the airport, the one that leaves at 27 minutes after the hour takes 75 minutes to travel to central Palermo and the one that leaves at 42 minutes after the hour takes 60 minutes.
After arriving at Stazione Centrale, it's a walk to get out of the train station because of construction.
Another option is to take a shuttle bus (Prestia e Comande). Cost is €6. There are various stops in Palermo, with the last being Stazione Centrale. Exiting the terminal, the buses are on the far right. Buses leave every 30 minutes from the airport, at the hour and half hour and they take about 50 minutes, depending on traffic. First bus leaves from PMO at 5 am and last bus leaves at 12:30 am or 1 am depending on flight arrivals. From Stazione Centrale, the first bus leaves at 4 am and the last leaves at 9:30 pm. Buy tickets from the driver or inside the airport.
We took the train from PMO to central Palermo then the bus from Palermo back to PMO. We found the bus to be much easier. The bus stop is at Via Roma, 265. A few minutes before the bus arrives, a guy shows up and you buy your ticket from him.
