Modica is known for chocolate. Their chocolate is unique--it's grainy.
Stop by the shops and try them out. The Antica Dolceria Bonajuto is located at Corso Umberto I, 159.

They make small-batch chocolates. We tried the cinnamon--€2.60 for 100 gram bar and the chili pepper--€1.30 for 2 small pieces. The chili was subtle.

They also had mpanatigghi, chocolate/meat cookie, for €0.60.

You can't taste the ground beef..

Our favorite chocolates were at Soto San Pietro, located at Corso Umberto I, 136, near the Duomo di San Pietro. They had a huge variety--we chose Peperocini, cannel (cinnamon) and mint. They were also the least expensive chocolates we found--€2 for 100 gram bar.

Don Cioccolato is located at Corso Umberto I, 1E. I couldn't resist the salted caramel--€3.20 for 150 gram bar. Unfortunately, it didn't have much caramel flavor.
