Due Pistacchi

TravelingFoodie2

We had lunch at Due Pistacchi. It's located at via Salvatore Tomaselli, 9.

They had no outdoor seating but the interior was elegant.

We went with the Tasting Menus--one for sea--€37 and one for land--€36.

Lunch started with 5 warm rolls--very tasty especially when dipped in olive oil and salt.

There was no amuse bouche

Antipasti: Potato cake with lobster, ,shrimp, finely shredded carrots and zucchini. This was very tasty and had good seafood flavor. The lobster pieces were small.

The land antipasti was Tramezzino--potato croquet with beef and pork ragu with corn crust and melted Parmesan cream. This was not good. The ragu did not work well with the potato croquet.

Primi piatti. Mushroom ravioli with cream of pistachio, grain of pistachio and dry pistachio fruit with Rose Shrimp from Mazzara del Vallo. The ravioli were good although the mushroom did not come through. There was too much pistachio cream.

The Land primi piatti was homemade gnocchi with pork and beef ragu and Parmesan crust in a lasagne. This was too heavy and the gnocchi was pasty.

The secondi piatti. Seabass roll with zucchini, dried and fresh cherry tomatoes, burrata cream, onion crumble and zucchini and carrot sauce. The seabass tasted spoiled and it was dry. None of the flavors came through.

The land was paprika crust pork filet, bok choy sauce, honey from Fleri and soy sauce reduction. The pork was dry and the dish didn't have much flavor.

Dessert was lemon and orange granita, which was quite refreshing and would have been nice as an intermezzo.

The star of the show was the tiramisu. This was so light and the Perugina chocolate was so good.

Overall, it was a disappointment.
