Weinhaus Brungs, Cologne

TravelingFoodie2

We had lunch at Weinhaus Brungs, located at Marsplatz, 3-5.

It's a historic restaurant. The building dates to the 16th century and sits at the site of the Roman City Gate that led to the harbor.

The cellar still has remnants of the old City Gate.

They had a nice outdoor patio where we had our lunch.

Tete de Moine--€11.90. This is a spiraled thin, delicate cheese that is delicious.

Flammkuchen mit Speck--€12.90. Typical thin crust with a white sauce, speck (German ham) and leeks.

Himmel und Ad--€16.90. Blood sausage served with fried onions and potatoes. This was also quite good. Don't be afraid to try it.

We tried the Weissweinschorle 0.3 liters--€4.90. This is a German drink made with wine and carbonated water--a German wine spritzer. It's a light and refreshing drink for the summer heat.
