Walking Around Porto

We walked from the Hotel da Bolsa to Gruta, where we made reservations for dinner. Along the way, we passed the Sao Bento Train Station. The inside is decorated with 20,000 azulejo tiles depicting scenes of Portugal's history.

Next stop was Igreja de Santo Ildefonso. It's a beautiful church covered with azulejo tiles. The church was built in 1739 but the tile facade wasn't added until 1932.

Nearby, looking towards Igreja dos Clerigos, there was a beautiful sunset.

Near Gruta is Capela das Armas, The church is from the 18th century but the tiles weren't added until 1929.

On the way back to the hotel, we passed the Majestic Cafe, located on Rua Santa Catarina, a pedestrian zone. It was built in 1921 and is filled with gilt-framed mirrors, marble-topped tables and plaster cherubs. It's known for rabanadas, Portugal's version of the French Toast.

The Fonte Monumental de Mouzinho do Silveira dates from 1875. It had no water.
