Valley of Fire State Park

From Echo Bay, we continued north on Hwy 167 to Valley of Fire State Park. Entrance fee was $10 to Nevada's first state park.

Valley of Fire State Park has 2 campgrounds. The Arches Campground has 29 sites but no hookups. The Atlatl Campground has 44 sites, some with hookups and it's first come, first served. We arrived at 11 am and there were plenty of sites available.

Drive around the campground and find an empty site.

We liked Campsite 40. We backed up next to the rock, which gave us a little more privacy.

Stop at the entrance, pick up an envelope, fill it out and enclose the nightly fee--$20 + $10 if you choose a site with hookups. Payment can be in cash or check.

Tear off the stub and attach it to the marker.

We loved the campground--our favorite this trip. It was so nice to have all the hookups. It was a really hot day and the air conditioner was a welcome relief. In fact, after arriving, we had lunch then took a nap in comfort.
