Top Things To See in Pontevedra

Real Basilica Menor de Santa Maria la Mayor. This basilica highlights the richness and importance of the seafarer's guild in the 16th century.

Behind City Hall, El Fiel Contraste represents a medieval government employee who keeps track of weights and measures by using a balance. Sadly, he's been graffiti'd.

Ruins of Santo Domingo, which date back to the 14th century.

Stop at Stromboli to have a helado artesanal Italiano--€2.45 for a small.

Nearby, you'll find the monument to the parrot Ravachol. The parrot was named after a French anarchist, who actively participated in intellectual meetings, organized by the local pharmacist. The parrot passed away during Carnival in 1913 and every year since, the "burial" of the parrot marks the end of the Carnival season in Pontevedra.

Shrine of the Virgen Peregrina, the patron saint of the Portuguese pilgrims.

Inside, you'll find scallop shells, the symbol of the Camino.

The Pontevedra sign near the Convento de San Francisco. It too has been defaced.

We stopped at a cafe to have a drink and do some people watching.

We each had a glass of Albarino--€2.80. Drinks come with tapas in Spain. The chorizo on bread was good and tied you over until dinner.
