Braga, Portugal's 3rd largest urban area, is 40 minutes from Porto.
We didn't have much information about Braga so we took a free city tour. It's a 2-hour tour that starts at the Porta Nova Arch.
On the side facing Campo das Hortas, you'll find the archbishop's coat of arms.
On the other side of the arch is a niche with Our Lady of Nazareth.
Near the Porta Nova, you'll find one of the Stations of the Cross--Jesus Comforts the Women of Jerusalem.
As you walk around town, be on the lookout for archaelogical ruins.

Arcada building that was part of Braga's Renaissance urban development in the Praca da Republica. The square crenellated tower peeking through is the walled-up Torre de Menagem. It's all that survived from a fortified medieval palace.
