Top Things to Do in Combarro

After Pontevedra, we drove 6 km to the Rias Baixas estuaries and the town of Combarro. You can spend about an hour wandering through town.

There are 3 traditional architectural elements in the old quarter of Combarro: horreos, casas marineras and cruceiros.


Horreos are traditional stone grain stores on stilts. You will find roughly 30 in town.

Traditional casa marineras, with balconies made of wood or stone.

Wander the narrow streets and look for cruceiros or stone crucifixes. They are a traditional Galician art form. The crosses are usually situated in squares or crossroads and have a peculiar feature: the figure of the Virgin is usually facing the sea and Christ is facing the ground.
