The big sight in Vila Real is the Corgo Canyon. From our hotel, it was a short walk to the trail leading down to the canyon.
There is a series of wooden bridges, steps and dirt paths.
There are several waterfalls within the canyon.
You can even see some ruins.

Climbing out of the canyon and into the city center, you can see it's a sleepy town.
Ave. 5th de Octubre crosses the Rio Corgo.
St. Paul Church
Near Vila Real, you can visit Mateus Palace, where you can do some wine tasting and visit the palace. It's not cheap but if you have time, consider it.
