Taylor Creek Trail

From the Timber Creek Overlook Trail, backtrack on Kolob Canyons Road to the Taylor Creek Trail. It'll be on your right.

Trail Details:

Moderate

Distance: 5 miles

Elevation gain: 450 feet

Time: 3-3.5 hours

Loop: no

Parking: yes

Description: follows the Middle Fork of Taylor Creek to Double Arch Alcove. Pass Larson Cabin & Fife Cabin. Dirt & rock trail. Partly shaded. It cools down when you get into the canyon. Cross stream over 50 times.

The Middle Fork of Taylor Creek didn't have much water in early October.

You'll cross the creek over 50 times. Fortunately, the rocks are well placed to make the crossing easier.

The trail passes Fife Cabin, which was built circa 1930.

Peek at the one-room cabin through the window.

A sign over one of the windows indicates this is Fife's cabin.

Once you get into the canyon, the temperature drop is noticeable.

The trail ends at the Double Arch Alcove.

On the way back, veer to the right to see the Larson Cabin.

This was a little better maintained and I liked the light streaming through the cabin.

This too had a sign indicating it was the Larson cabin.

At the start of the trail, you'll find a machine counting the number of hikers.
