Spring Ranch Trail

Between Albion and Mendocino, you'll find Little River and a nice flat trail along the coast.

Trail Details:

Ease: easy

Distance: 3.8 miles

Elevation gain: 160 feet

Time: 1 1/2 hours

Out & back

Fee: free

Parking: There is a small parking area on Peterson Lane, just south of the Inn at Cobbler's Walk in Little River. Just after the inn, you'll find a path. It takes you through a wooded area before emerging on the coast. There are numerous paths so you can design the length that you'd like to hike.

Walk towards the inn and just after the sign, you'll find a small trail leading north.

The trail passes through a wooded area initially.

Spring Ranch is part of Van Damme State Park. With spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, it's a great place to spot whales. The whales are closer to shore on their migration north February to April.

There is a rocky intertidal shelf, where you can see seals sunning themselves.

We walked 2.7 miles, which took just under an hour.
