San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

Just 35 km east of Bilbao is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an island recognizable from its appearance in "Game of Thrones."

Admission to the island is free but you'll need to schedule a time to visit online.

We were not aware of the timed admission and there were no times left when we arrived. We weren't able to visit the island, but we could still get views of the island.

The island is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. The bridge transitions into a narrow path that contains 241 steps and zigzags its way back and forth to the top

Once at the top of the island, you will find a church with a bell. The church is dedicated to John the Baptist.
