We stayed in town and had lunch at Pierres & Gamelles, located at 4 Rue des Charpentiers, near the Hotel de Ville (City Hall).

There are some tables on the street.

The tables in the courtyard are a little more atmospheric.

France is known for Menu du Jour at lunch, a set menu with several courses.

I ordered the Menu du Jour--€15.90 for 2 courses. The starter was Gaspacho--a tasty cold tomato soup. This was unlike the Spanish variety in that it had basil.

The main was Espadon Grille with mashed potatoes. The swordfish was grilled perfectly.

My husband ordered the restaurant's signature dish on the recommendation of a Frenchman who sat next to us. The Poire de Boeuf was cooked on a stone. €24.90. It was a fun presentation but the beef was a little tough.
