Maria Catita

Our hotel recommended Maria Catita for dinner. It's located at Rua dos Bacalhoeiros, 30. They have indoor & outdoor seating. We stopped by when we passed it and made a reservation for dinner. It really wasn't necessary as they had plenty of tables.

In Portugal, they will place bread and other starters on your table. It doesn't mean they're free. If you don't want something, ask for it to be taken away.

Olives--€1.50. These were nothing special but it was nice to nibble on something while we waited for our entrees.

Codfish Maria Catita Style--€16.50. Confit codfish loin in olive oil and garlic with sauteed rapini and Portuguese cornbread. The cod was a huge portion. Flaky and delicious. It was nice to have some vegetables with the rapini. The fried cornbread had been fried too long.

Sardine Fillets--€14.50. Fried boneless, split sardines with tomato risotto. It was good but the cod was better
