You can take a 1-hour cruise east from Pinhao in Rabelo boats. We reserved on the Magnifico Douro the night before. Cost was €11/person.
The Duoro is popular for river cruises.
It's a slow sail upriver then back. You'll see wineries and terraced vineyards. We saw a couple birds but not much else. There was a group of 6 who took up the entire front of the boat so the rest of the passengers couldn't see anything without standing up. Poor management on Magnifico Duoro's part. There was also supposed to be an audioguide but it didn't work.
You go to the old bridge then sail back to Pinhao.
The 2-hour cruise goes to Tua and includes a glass of port for €20. On the 1-hour cruise, a glass of port is €3.
