Locale is a small restaurant located at 1727 18th Street in downtown Bakersfield. They serve locally sourced salads, burgers and sandwiches. It is a 20-min walk from the Marriott.
There is an outdoor seating area, as well as an indoor area.
Cowboy Salad--$14. Pull pork marinated in BBQ, romaine lettuce, black beans, corn, tomatoes, green onions, red onions and cilantro topped with Fritos, drizzled with BBQ sauce and chipotle ranch dressing. This was quite good. I liked the tangy ranch with the sweet BBQ sauce.
Apple Kale Salad--$14.50. Mixed greens served with local shredded brussels sprouts, uncured applewood smoked bacon, seasonal apples, cilantro, chevre cheese, toasted pecans, sliced dates and chives tossed in a warm honey dijon vinaigrette. This was also very good.
