Gruta, Porto

I made reservations at Gruta, a Michelin Bib Gourmand, for our first night in Porto. It's located at Rua de Santa Catarina, No. 447. You can make reservations on The Fork from their website:

Couvert--€3/person. It included a bread basket with homemade olive oil focaccia & spreads (seaweed butter, tapenade and fish rillette). Delicious!

Starter of Gambas Rosas--€12. Nice & garlicky sauce. Each order has 7 shrimp.

Moqueca--€20. This was good but it wasn't the Brazilian version I'm used to. There wasn't much urucum flavor.

Arroz do Mar--€20. Tasty al dente rice stew with squid, shrimp and clams. The shrimp were on the small side.

Peixe do Dia--€22. The croaker was very well prepared--moist interior with crispy skin.

Pistachio mignardise at the end of the meal.

Rede Reserva Tinto from the Douro--€18.

Rio Pequeno Reserva from the Douro--€23.

It was a great meal and a nice start to our trip. The couvert, gambas and croaker were the highlight of the meal.
