Goosenecks State Park

Next up on our Utah parks tour was Goosenecks State Park. It's located in the southeastern part of the state, near the town of Mexican Hat. Entry to the park is $5 per vehicle.

The park gets its name from the hairpin turns (goosenecks) of the San Juan River, which carved a canyon 1000 feet deep.

This was as close to the edge as I was comfortable getting.

Campsites are available for $10/site. This includes the entry fee for 1 vehicle and up to 8 campers. There are pit toilets.

Campers rim the edge of the canyon.

If you're planning to drive south to Page, Arizona, skip Goosenecks State Park. The Horseshoe Bend, part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, gives you a much better view of a river bend.
