Final Thoughts on Viking River Cruise

TravelingFoodie2

This was our first river cruise and river cruising is definitely different from ocean cruising. The ship is much smaller, there are fewer amenities and entertainment is nearly non-existent. On the other hand, you usually arrive in the center of town and you can visit small towns and villages. Tours are usually included in your cruise fare.

The food on Viking was hit and miss. We had some good meals but the majority were disappointing. Our balcony cabin was large and the bathroom had a nice enclosed shower with a door. We were happy we got a balcony on the starboard side as we sailed upstream since there were quite a few sights visible from our stateroom.

Sign up for Viking emails and you will receive offers on sailings. Some of these offers include free international airfare and some include onboard credit. Unfortunately, we did not sign up for emails and received none of these benefits.

We will likely do another river cruise but may consider another line.
