Day 14--Teo to Santiago de Compostela

Our final day! We walked from Teo—Milladoiro—Santiago de Compostela, 11 km (6.6 mi), 3:15, 246m up/91m down. The plan was to arrive by noon in Santiago to attend the Pilgrim's mass at the Catedral. We decided to take our time and catch a later mass.

The trail today took us through woods and along main roads. It was our most crowded day.

We ran into a group of disabled pilgrims who were being pushed by volunteers.

We crossed small streams on old stone bridges.

Finally, our destination--Catedral de Santiago de Compostela after 14 days and 173 official miles. About an hour from Santiago, we took a break and an elderly man came out of nowhere and told us to keep going. He said the Botafumeiro would be swung at noon. Now, not even the staff at the official office in Santiago knows when the Botafumeiro would be swung so we were not sure how he knew. Nonetheless, we hustled to get to the Catedral by noon.
