We pushed ourselves today to shorten the distance to Santiago de Compostela tomorrow. It was a long and exhausting day. Our route took us from Caldas de Reis—Padron—Iria Flavia—A Escravitude—Picarana—Teo, 26.2 km (15.7 mi), 6:58, 221m up, 174m down.
It was a pleasant walk that took us through woods and through towns. There was a slight hill that started 3 km after Caldas de Reis.
After 1.5 hours, we reached Igrexa de Santa Marina de Carrexedo.
There were definitely a lot more pilgrims now.
After another hour, we reached Igrexa de San Miguel de Valga, with a cemetery attached.
Crossing the Rio Ulla to reach Padron.
Padron is a beautiful town. We were greeted with a sculpture of a woman selling Padron peppers.
We had to get some churros from this vendor.
Paseo do Espolon next to the Rio Sar.
Igrexa de Santiago Apostolo de Padron. Inside the church is reportedly the stone where the boat carrying St. James' body back from Jerusalem was tied up.
Twenty minutes up the road from the church, we came upon another foot bath.
Capela de San Martino just before we arrived at our hotel for the night.
