Castelo do Castro

The Castelo do Castro is a hilltop fortress built in 1665 to defend the many attacks by the British. It's a 20-minute walk from the waterfront.


Climb the hill to enter the park.

You'll get a bird's eye view of the surrounding bay.

You can see oyster beds in the bay.

There are many sculptures throughout the park.

Continue climbing to visit the castle. There is no entry fee.

Inside the castle, you'll find more sculptures.

Off in the distance, you'll see the Cies Islands.

The details of this sculpture reminded me of the palloza huts in O Cebreiro.
