Cape Royal Drive

After our hike, we took the Cape Royal Drive all the way to the end at Cape Royal. Vehicles longer than 30 feet are not recommended on this road.


After 5.4 miles, take the left fork for 2.6 miles to Point Imperial. This is a good spot to view sunrise.

After Point Imperial, retrace back to the Cape Royal Drive. Next stop is Vista Encantada

Ten minutes later, you'll come to the Roosevelt Point

Continue on Cape Royal Drive for another 20 minutes to the Walhalla Overlook. You can see the Colorado River in the distance.

Across the road from the Walhalla Overlook, you'll find a path to the Walhalla Ruin.

Take the short flat trail to an ancient Puebloan home site.

Take the Cape Royal Drive all the way to the end. It's 23 miles from the Visitors Center and takes 45 minutes to drive one way.

From the large parking lot, there is a flat paved trail to see Angels Window and Cape Royal.

Follow the trail to Cape Royal with a view of the Grand Canyon. This is a good place for sunset.
