Battle of the Pasteis de Nata

You'll find pasteis de nata everywhere in Portugal. Here's the rundown of where we tried them in Lisbon and my thoughts on them. Don't forget to sprinkle cinnamon and powdered sugar on top.


Aloma: €1.00. It was custardy, not too sweet but the shell was too thick.

Casa Brasileria: €1.00. Good custard, tart shell not as crunchy but only 6 for €5.50

Fabrica Nata: €1.20. Good custard, crunchy tart shell but it was a little thin. 2nd after Manteigaria.

Manteigaria: €1.10. Custardy, not too sweet, crunchy tart shell. Excellent--the best in Lisbon.

Natas & Friends: €1.20. Good custard, crunchy tart shell.

Nata de Lisboa: €1.00. Good custard, tart shell crunchy

Nataria National: €1.20. Shell chewy--didn't have a nice crunch.
