Astorga Chocolate

Hernan Cortes brought the cocoa bean from Central America to Spain in the 16th century. Some believe that Astorga is the European birthplace of chocolate. In 1925, the industry peaked with 51 chocolate makers. Today, there are just a few left.

Alonso is one of the few chocolate makers left. Stop in and buy some chocolates.

If you have time, you can also visit the Chocolate Museum, located at Avenida de la Estacion 16. It's closed on Sunday afternoons and Mondays.
