It's easy to get from AMS (Schiphol Airport) to downtown Amsterdam. We took the Intercity Train, which is a 23 min-ride to Centraal Station. Buy your ticket from one of the blue & yellow machines.
A one-way ticket from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal was €4.70 + €1 (not sure what €1 was for).
The train station is on the lower level of the airport.
Arrival in downtown Amsterdam at the Centraal Station.
