Monforte de Lemos is the start of the Ribeira Sacra wine region. There are many bodegas but you might need reservations at some of them.
We found Adega Ponte Da Boga, which was open without reservations. It was located on the Rio Edo..
They had a nice tasting room. We tried Godello, a white varietal found in Galicia, as well as the Mencia, a red known in the region. Their wines are very reasonably priced--€9-12 a bottle.
If you have time, you can take a cruise in the Sil Canyon.
