We flew United Business Class from San Francisco to Munich. It was Thanksgiving day and I thought the airport and flights would be empty. Not so!
United's Polaris lounge had not re-opened and there was a waitlist at the United Club. What??? Who's heard of a waitlist to get into a lounge?
After 15 minutes, our names were called and we were given access to the lounge. The United Club is NOT anything like the Polaris Lounge. It was crowded and all seats were taken.
There was a small food section.
The food selection was mediocre. There were a few hot items, including burritos in a plastic bag and minestrone soup. The best thing about the lounge were Milano cookies.
Our plane was a 787 Dreamliner. The odd rows have the seats closer together so it's nice if you have a traveling companion. The even row seats are further apart, better if you're traveling alone.
The usual amenities but the socks were really cute.
The Dreamliner has a cubby hole with a mirror! I liked the storage on the Dreamliner.
In flight meals were not exciting. Everything was served at once, not course by course. This was short ribs, which was tender.
The other dinner option we chose was lemongrass salmon. It didn't have much lemongrass flavor. I liked the short ribs better.
Prior to landing, breakfast was served. Egg white with kale omelet was decent.
My husband chose the oatmeal, which had too many additives baked in. He thought it was okay.
The flight wasn't up to par with the usual Business Class but then again my flight was a bargain. The lie-flat bed was worth the price. We arrived refreshed and ready to go.
