From Harry's Cafe de Wheels, we walked to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. We saw the temporary ArtPark exhibit on the Finger Wharf on the way: "Charger"--a bronze bull and "Kin"--an upturned head were just 2 of the over 50 sculptures on display.
It's free to enter he Art Gallery of New South Wales. The building is unique in that the front is neoclassical Greek while the rear is modern. Inside, you'll find one of Warhol's 209 "Mao, 1972" paintings.
From the Art Gallery, it was a short walk to the State Library of NSW. We stepped inside to see the reading room, clad in marble. Among its 5 million books are James Cook's journal and William Bligh's log from the Bounty.
In front of the Sydney Hospital is a statue of "Porcellino," the same one that can be found in Florence. Its nose was rubbed shiny.
Our next stop was St. Mary's Cathedral, a 106m long sandstone building. It was begun in 1868 and finished in 1928. Nearby is Hyde Park with the Archibald Memorial Fountain and the Anzac Memorial, an art deco memorial to commemorate WWI soldiers of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC).
