Rosso Pizzeria

Rosso Pizzeria is located at 53 Montgomery Drive in Santa Rosa. They had a fabulous 2-course lunch for $15 during Restaurant Week.

There was a choice of salads for the 1st course and a choice of pizza, meatball & polenta or veghead polenta for the 2nd course.

Capo Salad--Rafter Ranch arugula, oven roasted artichoke, shaved Parmegiano Reggiano and whole lemon vinaigrette. This was very good. The arugula wasn't too spicy and the roasted artichoke complimented the arugula well.

Caesar Salad--chopped romaine, with creamy lemon anchovy dressing, gorgonzola dolce and Calabrian chiles. This was also very good. There was just a hint of spiciness from the chiles.

You had the choice of any personal-sized pizza on the menu.

Oliva + Salsiccia--Caggiano sweet fennel sausage, castelventrano and Kalamata olives, slow roasted onions, house-made mozzarella, basil, with a red sauce. Rosso's pizza crust is so good. It's prepared Neopolitan style.

Moto Guzzi--house-smoked mozzarella, Caggiano spicy Italian sausage, slow roasted sweet onion, smoked olive oil and Swiss chard. Although there wasn't much smokiness, this was my second favorite pizza.

Funghi di Limone--oven roasted mixed mushrooms, taleggio and fontina cheese, shaved artichokes finished with lemon oil and fresh thyme. This was on the salty side but it was my favorite pizza. The mushrooms were flavorful and the hint of lemon and thyme made it unique.

Overall, this was a great Restaurant Week meal. So flavorful and great value.
