River Vine is the new restaurant at the Vintner's Inn, located at 4350 Barnes Road in Santa Rosa. They offered a $25 2-course lunch. We sat outside and it was such a lovely spot, especially with the sun shining. There were plenty of umbrellas to provide shade.
We saw Mini Cinnamon Sugared Donuts on the menu and couldn't resist. They were quite good and were served with Applejack Custard Sauce, which was full of apple flavor. At $10 for 6, they were a little pricey.
There was only one option for the main--Local Petrale Sole Dore with caper butter sauce, served with basmati rice pilaf and sautéed spinach with garlic. This was excellent. The sole was well prepared with a light egg coating and the spinach was barely wilted and perfect!
Dessert was Salted Caramel Pot de Creme with Cornflake Cookies. This was also quite good. The pot de creme was thick and the cookies were so good. I wish I could figure out the recipe.
Lunch was such a great experience, especially sitting outside. Makes me happy to live in Sonoma County. We'll definitely be back to River Vine!
