Parking at SFO is not cheap but the Burlingame Airport Parking is one of the less expensive places to park long term. They do require you to pay in advance but it is cancellable 24 hours before. Parking is $9.99/day. It's located at 620 Airport Blvd, next to the Hilton, south of the airport. Shuttles come every 20 minutes. The parking is outdoors but there is covered parking if the outdoor sites are full. The parking lot is not monitored.
Another option is Park SFO. They have a large multi-story covered lot at 195 North Access Road, just north of the airport. Parking is $17.95/day but they have many coupons. I will park here if I am parking for exactly 4, 7 or 9 days because the coupons make it more reasonable. The shuttles are frequent. The parking lot is staffed but I'm not sure how often they make rounds. Download the ParkSFO app to make it easier to pay. Use the app to enter and exit and you will be billed automatically.
