Parish Cafe, Healdsburg

When we get a craving for New Orleans food, we head to the Parish Cafe. It's located in Healdsburg at 60 Mill Street, in a big yellow house.

Beignets--$6 for an order of 3. These are light and fluffy with just the right amount of powder sugar.

Eggs Tchoupitoualas--$20. Poached eggs, fried shrimp, smoked tasso ham & house-made Hollandaise sauce.

The special for the morning was Seafood & Grits--$25. It included fried catfish, crawfish and shrimp. Add a poached egg for $2.

Lunch is served after 11:30am.

Gumbo Bowl--$12. My friend thought the gumbo was too salty.

Reg Po'Boy 1/2 shrimp, 1/2 oysters--$16. Not quite Parkway Bakery & Tavern, where you can get the best po boys in New Orleans but it's pretty good. The roll is soft, the shrimp has a good taste and the oysters are fried perfectly. A regular is good for 1. You could probably split the king size with another person.

Fried Okra--$6.50. The okras are split, breaded and deep fried. Nice crunch and no sliminess. The remoulade sauce is nice as well.
