I used "Walking Milwaukee by Royal Brevvaxling and Molly Snyder" to do some walking tours. The Juneautown tour started at the Milwaukee Art Museum. It's a beautiful contemporary building on Lake Michigan.
On the grounds of the Milwaukee Art Museum is Monumental Holistic III by Betty Gold. This is part of Sculpture Milwaukee, an annual exhibition of contemporary sculpture with a focus on public art.
The Quadracci Pavilion of the Milwaukee Art Museum was designed by Santiago Calatrava. When open, the brise-soleil has a 217-foot wingspan. It is closed at night and during harsh weather. it was overcast and slightly windy on the day of our visit. I guess that's considered harsh weather.
Step inside the building to get a beautiful view of the interior. This is with the wing closed.
You can view some of the art in the entry. Look up to see Calder's Red, Black & Blue.
Look down the stairway to see Palais Glace.
Walk outside and you'll find more art.
Through the window, you can see one of Chihuly's pieces.
LOVE sculpture in back of the building.
In front of the museum is Holiday Home by Richard Woods. This was also part of Sculpture Milwaukee.
Upon leaving, walk across the pedestrian bridge and you'll see The Calling, a sculpture by American Mark di Suervo in O'Donnell Park.
