Kosciuszko National Park

We left Sydney and drove 5 1/2 hours to Thredbo. Entry fee to Kosciuszko National Park was A$17 ($10.85) per car.

We had planned to climb Mt. Kosciuszko but the weather didn't cooperate. It snowed (a little surprising in mid December) and was very windy. We had planned to take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift (day pass A$39/pp, 9am-4pm). From the top of the lift, it was a 13km and 4-5 hour walk to the summit and back. At 2228 meters, it's the highest peak in Australia and probably the only one of the Seven Summits that I could do. Oh well.

There are several other hikes available in the park. The Riverside Walk was too muddy so we chose the Merritt's Nature Track. Unfortunately, it was also too windy to get very far up the mountain.
