Hammett’s Mestizo

TravelingFoodie2

We met friends who lived in Sliema and had dinner at Hammett's Mestizo, located at 11 Triq Schreiber in St. Julian. Hammett's Mestizo is a Meso-South American fusion restaurant. The small plates are meant to be shared.

Guacamole--€5. The guacamole was made with avocado, lime, chili, coriander, onion - served with Totopos (crispy nachos). Not sure where the fusion came in.

Lamb Taco--€18. Bbq lamb, pickled cactus, onion, coriander, habanero sauce. This was quite good.

Asado Negro--€14. Braised beef cheek, citrus, plantain, pearl onions, padrones peppers. The beef was very tender.

Crispy Duck & Mole--€14. Pickled onion, coriander salad. This was also quite good.

Lomo Saltado--€15. Beef, tomato, chili, onions, potato, soya, garlic, coriander.

Aubergine en Nogada--€11. Eggplant, almond, ricotta, sour cream, pomegranate, pinons. This was undercooked.

Coconut Flan was rich and creamy.
