Bali, Day 2

We left the ship at 6am to chase waterfalls. Our first waterfall was Tukad Cepung. Along the way, we could see Mount Agung, Bali's highest mountain.

Tukad Cepung is located 40 minutes north of Ubud. We arrived at 7:15am, 15 minutes after it opened. Admission was IDR15,000 ($1).

In the parking lot was the beginning of King Kong. We were glad we arrived before the Instagrammers.

Take the stairs down to the river.

Walk along the river, passing several ponds.

After a 15-minute walk, you arrive at Tukad Cepang Waterfall. It is surrounded by cliffs. The best time to see it is around 9-10am, when the sunlight streams through the opening and lights up the waterfall. We kind of enjoyed the waterfall at 8am even though the sunlight was not optimal. We had the whole place to ourselves.

After visiting the main waterfall, walk through the river to visit the smaller waterfall. Be sure to wear water shoes.

Our next stop was Krisik Waterfall. It was just a 5-minute drive away. Admission was IDR20,000 ($1.34).

Follow the stairs down to the river.

There are several waterfalls here.

You will need to wade through the river to reach all the waterfalls.

After chasing waterfalls, we drove to Sanur to have another spa afternoon. I had made reservations at The Nest, a boutique spa. https://www.thenestboutiquespa.com/

Our treatments were wonderful. My husband had the 90 min deep tissue massage for IDR335K ($22.40) and I had the 60 min lymphatic drainage massage for IDR215K ($14.40) + a 30 min back therapy for IDR105K ($7). I wished I lived in Bali so I could keep getting the massages.

We were given tea in the reception area. The massages were in air-conditioned rooms and were so relaxing.

Not quite the season, but we were able to find some mangosteens on the way back to the ship. Our driver was upset that I didn't negotiate with the vendor. I was pretty happy with paying IDR48K ($3.20) for 1 kg of mangosteens. Despite not being in season (the season is May-August), they were still good.

The snakeskin fruit next to the mangosteen is salak. It's sweet and crunchy. I don't care for it--it has an astringent edge.
