After returning to Valletta, we took another walking tour. We turned right after entering the City Gate and found Jean de Valette Square.
A statue of Jean de Valette sits in the square. Jean de Valette (1495-1568) was a French nobleman and the 49th Grand Master of the Order of Malta. He commanded the resistance against the Ottomans at the Great Siege of Malta in 1565.
Nearby is a statue of Paul Boffa, the prime minster of Malta from 1947-1950.
Il-Berġa ta' Kastilja, also known as the Auberge de Castille, serves as the prime minister's office. It was built in 1573-1574
This monument commemorates the Migration Summit, which brought African and European leaders together in Malta in 2015.
