A Tour of the Regatta

The Regatta is one of Oceania's original ships. Along with sister ships Insignia and Nautica, it carries 656 passengers and 410 staff members. I like the size of Regatta. It's easy to get on and off the ship and there's plenty of space on board. The only time it feels crowded is at the lunch buffets.

The Regatta was built in 1999 and refurbished in 2019 so the ship looked new. We were in cabin 4004, a Category C2, deluxe ocean view cabin with a large picture window. We found we didn't miss having a balcony on this itinerary--it was either too hot and humid or too cold to sit out. The cabin was spacious at 165sf.

The bed can be configured as 2 twins or pushed together for 1 large bed. We didn't notice the seam in the middle. There's plenty of space under the bed to store your luggage. The window area had a ledge that can be used for extra storage.

Across from the bed was an interactive TV system with live shows, on-demand movies and in-house channels that broadcast the enrichment lectures.

Next to the bed are chargers and a USB port.

There was a seating area with a table, where we had room-service breakfast a couple of times. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

Large closet with plenty of hangers. Bathrobes and slippers are provided.

Beach towels and safe.

The cabin steward replenished free Vero still and sparkling water twice daily. There was also a dispenser in each hall if you wanted to fill up yourself. Oceania gave each passenger a stainless steel water bottle so you could carry your water around and off the ship.

The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary soft drinks.

The bathroom was spacious by cruise ship standards.

Bulgari amenities. I was surprised they didn't have dispensers to avoid these single-use products.

There was a medicine cabinet, additional shelves for storage and even storage under the sink. Hair dryer was provided.

The shower was spacious and had a glass door. No more curtain that sticks to you.

WiFi was complimentary but each cabin could only log on with 1 device at a time. It was slow but you could at least download your email.

Deck 3 was staff quarters and 15 ocean view staterooms. It was also where the tender embarkation area was.

Deck 4 was the Reception area.

Destination Services.

Concierge

Deck 4 also had the Medical Facility and cabins reserved for COVID positive passengers. Fortunately, we didn't get COVID on the ship but we were careful with mask wearing and handwashing. Our cabin steward did get COVID, probably because she had to service the COVID cabins.

Grand Staircase leading to Deck 5

Looking down on Deck 4.

Deck 5 had the Oceania Ambassador's desk, where you could discuss and reserve future cruises.

The Upper Hall with seating areas and 2 boutiques.

Additional seating area on Deck 5 where you could enjoy the evening string quartet recitals.

Dining Reservations desk where you could inquire about additional Polo Grill or Toscana availability. We were always able to make additional reservations if we were willing to share a table.

The Barista Bar serves free espressos, cappuccinos, lattes and frappuccinos. The frappuccinos are really good on a hot day.

Snack area in Barista. The best are the caneles--delicious Bordeaux pastries, caramelized and slightly crisped on the outside, soft and slightly custardy on the inside with a hint of rum and the biscottis. The biscottis are not homemade but are still good. For breakfast, you can find a variety of pastries and for lunch, a variety of sandwiches.

The Grand Dining Room on Deck 5 aft.

Martinis Lounge midship Deck 5.

Martinis Bar

Casino on Deck 5 just forward of Martinis Bar.

The Regatta Lounge Deck 5 Forward. Evening performances are held here. Oceania is not known for its entertainment and we were perfectly fine with the lack of shows. This is also where Enrichment Lectures are given during the day and where Trivia is played.

Decks 6, 7 and 8 are cabins. Deck 7 does have a launderette with 4 sets of washers & dryers. There's no charge for the machines and laundry detergent is supplied.

On Deck 9, you'll find the Oceania @ Sea, where you can access computers and sometimes get help with computer questions.

Next door is the Card Room.

The Aquamar Spa and Styling Salon is also on Deck 9. The gym is starboard Deck 9.

Waves Grill aft on Deck 9 is where you can order hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled sandwiches. There is also a small salad bar.

Ice cream, smoothies and milkshakes are available in the Grills Cafe as well.

The Terrace Cafe aft on Deck 9 is where the buffet is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can get crowded at lunch so time your visit accordingly.

The Terrace Cafe has several stations, including a pizza station.

On the aft deck, there is outdoor seating. It wasn't used often on our cruise. It was either too hot and humid or too cold to sit outside.

On Deck 10 is the Library.

The book collection covers a wide range of topics.

The Horizon Lounge on Deck 10 forward is where you can watch the world sail by. This is also where Afternoon Tea is served daily at 4pm.

Smoking area in Horizon Lounge.

There is a pool, 2 jacuzzis and plenty of deck chairs. Ask the staff to turn up the heat on the jacuzzi. Often, it was <100 degrees.

Forward on Deck 11 is the Putting Green.

Cornhole area on Deck 11.

Shuffleboard.

Thirteen times around the track is 1 mile.
