Walter Hansel Wine Bistro, Santa Rosa

Walter Hansel Wine Bistro is located at 3232 Guerneville Road in Santa Rosa. They had a 3-course dinner for $55 during Restaurant Week.

We ordered the Pinot flight for $35. It was surprising that the pours were 2 oz. That's a pricey flight.

We were given an amuse bouche--cream of corn soup with Zatar. Tasty.

One of the options for the first course was Beet Salad--Roasted Ruby, Golden and Chioggia Beets, Toasted Marcona Almonds, Citrus Champagne Vinaigrette, Wild Arugula, Humboldt Fog Cheese. This was okay. Nothing special.

You had the choice of scallop or Grilled Steak & Frites for the entree. The steak was a choice of Ribeye or Akaushi Flat Iron Steak, The steaks were marinated in garlic and herbs, served with wild arugula, Brandy green peppercorn cream sauce.

I ordered the Flat Iron Steak rare. The steak was delicious and the sauce was delicious.

My dinner mates ordered the Ribeye, which was disappointing. The steak was fatty--over half the steak was fat.

Profiteroles with Pistachio Gelato, Valrhona Chocolate Sauce. The profiteroles were stale.
