Tucumcari

Tucumcari is a town of around 5,000 people and it has many reminders of Route 66.

As you enter Tucumcari, you'll find the Convention Center and a Route 66 Sculpture.

Many of the motels and restaurants are abandoned but the signs still exist. This was the Ranch House Cafe.

Old gas stations have been painted with colorful murals.

The Pow Wow Restaurant and Lizard Lounge still serves meals.

The Whiting Bros. gas station is still brightly painted.

There's a big sombrero on top of La Cita, which is still serving Mexican food.

Note the adorable neon sign for Boulevard Cleaners & Laundromat.

The Motel Safari, a Route 66 classic for over 60 years, was recently renovated.

As you continue on Route 66, you'll find more murals on the side of buildings.

The Blue Swallow Motel has been serving travelers since 1939. It was also recently renovated.

Stop at TeePee Curios to see their restored neon sign.

Some of the murals are elaborate.

Kix on 66 is another restaurant still serving food.

As you leave town on the east, you'll find Del's Restaurant with a cow on the sign.
