After 2 nights at Stovepipe Wells, we moved to the Sunset Campground near Furnace Creek. This gave us easier access to the hikes at the southern end of the park.
You can make reservations at the Furnace Creek campground, which has some sites with hookups. These sites go quickly. Sunset Campground does not take reservations and there are usually sites available even during the busy winter season. It's a flat parking lot with 270 sites, flush toilets and a sink area. There are no showers. No tables at the sites and no charcoal grill allowed. There is a central fire pit where tent campers sleep. There is a dump station and water filling station.
