Samuel Boardman State Scenic Corridor

The Samuel Boardman State Scenic Corridor is a 12-mile stretch of the Oregon Coast just north of Brookings. There are numerous pullouts as well as parking areas to access numerous trails.

Samuel H. Boardman (1874-1953) was the first superintendent of the Oregon State Parks and was instrumental in pursuing land purchases and donations to establish the state park system.

Stops in the Corridor (from south to north):

  • Lone Ranch Beach

  • House Rock Viewpoint

  • Whaleshead Viewpoint

  • Indian Sands Trail

  • Thomas Creek Bridge

  • China Beach

  • Natural Bridges Cove

  • Secret Beach Trail

  • Spruce Island

  • Arch Rock Viewpoint

House Rock Viewpoint was fogged in so we couldn't see House Rock. There was a placard telling the story of Samuel Boardman.
