Old Town Albuquerque

Albuquerque's historic Old Town was founded in 1706.

The Spanish plaza has a gazebo

and Mountain Howitzers, small cannons used in mountain warfare. They were used in the mid 1800s--during the Mexican-American War, the American Indian Wars and the Civil War.

The plaza is also home to the Iglesia de San Felipe de Neri.

There are over 150 shops and restaurants in Old Town.

I loved the ristras of New Mexican chilis adorning the stores.
