Be sure to stop at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center.

There is a temperature gauge outside. In mid January, it was a pleasant 72 degrees. The hottest recorded temperature was 134 degrees on July 10, 1913.

Inside, there is a museum with displays of bighorn sheep and the Borax mining works. There is also a 3-D map of the National Park and a video to watch. You can pick up t-shirts and books at the small gift shop.
